Without getting too technical, the Matte Blacks are sporting advanced lens technology with Oleophobic water and oil resistant coating matched with a category 3 lens, dimming it down to a low 14% light transmission.

One of the arms of the pair fell off after 5 months and they won't cover it under warranty. They scratch quite easily too. Happy to avoid in the future. Sad for an Australian company but that's what happens when companies make things in China. Not sure you'd want these things to protect your eyes.
